The hospital

Baobab Maternity Hospital will serve as a regional referral hospital for Dar es Salaam region. It will focus on providing high quality maternity services for normal deliveries as well as life saving emergency care for complicated deliveries. While obstetric services form the core service, Baobab Maternity Hospital will provide health services which also include gynaecology and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases along with HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment.

CCBRT’s pro-poor policy will ensure equal access to health services for all. Continuity of individual care is important to reduce maternal as well as newborn deaths throughout the lifecycle (adolescence, pregnancy, childbirth, the postnatal period and childhood). The new maternal health services will also have a community aspect which will ensure a ceaseless flow of care from the clinical setting to outpatients and into the community. At all times, Baobab Maternity Hospital will adhere to international and national standards of health service provision.

Baobab Maternity Hospital services will be provided in six departments; gynaecology and obstetric, neonatal, anaesthesia and intensive care, family planning, sexually transmitted infections and an HIV care and treatment centre.
