The Government of Tanzania

Since CCBRT was founded in 1994, it has closely collaborated with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania (GoT).  For many years the Dar es Salaam City Council and CCBRT implemented a joint HIV/AIDS programme including Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT), medical treatment and home based care. In 2007, CCBRT and the Government of Tanzania entered into a public-private partnership (PPP) for the establishment of Baobab Maternity Hospital. As part of the PPP the GoT finances 70% of staff salaries of the CCBRT Disability Hospital (as from 2009). In the coming years, the GoT will increase its contributions to also cover the salary expenses for Baobab Maternity Hospital. CCBRT will receive an additional annual block grant for essential equipment and supplies. The land on which Baobab Maternity Hospital will be constructed has been generously donated by the GoT.

The European Union

The European Union (EU) is one of the largest donors in Africa. It provides budgetary support to partners in developing countries. As well as supporting CCBRT’s disability hospital and  community rehabilitation programme, the EU has also added its support to the first phase of Baobab Maternity Hospital by awarding CCBRT (together with APDK in Kenya) a major four year grant. The aim of the grant is to reduce the occurrence of disabilities and mitigate the effects of impairments by strengthening maternal and newborn care, by increasing community awareness on the causes of disability and by providing comprehensive early intervention services. This project is co-funded by CBM and the project activities will commence in 2010.

Since its foundation in 1994, CCBRT has worked in close partnership with CBM, receiving technical, advisory budgetary and human resource support. In exchange, CCBRT provides advisory support through key staff to cbm's regional implementation structures. cbm is CCBRT's largest partner.
